But which generation of Golf GTI is best? Is it the clean, boxy Mk1, with its gorgeous Giugiaro lines? Is it the larger, faster Mk2, with its distinctive headlights? Is it the boring-looking Mk4, or the great-value Mk5? We did a VW Golf GTI group test, and pitted them back-to-back on a closed circuit.
